CRY FOR PEACE IN EAST TOMOR

Sir,

As you are aware that the people of East Timor have chosen Independence by a vote of 80% under the UN supervision and the sponsorship of the International Community, despite the terror and intimidation they had to suffer from the occupants.

The new political maneuver of Indonesia of creating a chaos and political cleansing, so that the decision of this innocent people will never be respected, must be strongly condemned by the international community and actions to protect the rights of the people of East Timor must be taken as soon as possible. And we advice that :

International peace keeping force must be sent rapidly to East Timor;

This irresponsible actions from the Indonesian government must be condemned by the International Community;

The option of the independence of East Timor must come true.

We think the international community will do its best to make Indonesia respect the will of the people of East Timor. If the international community fails to comply with its responsibilities towards the Timorese people, a lot of questions will arise about the effectiveness of the UN referendums, if their results are not respected and the effectiveness of the UN and the international community!

The people of Western Sahara will have the same referendum next year, and the way of the international community deals with the case of East Timor will be very important for our people, because if the will of the people of East Timor is not respected to day, the will of the Saharawi people will not be respected tomorrow either in the UN planned self-determination referendum.

The same scenario that the anti-independent militia applied in East Timor might be applied by Morocco in Western Sahara, in away or an other; through their para-military troops or security agents or the Moroccan settlers stationed in Western Sahara.

The international community must assume its full responsibility in the issue, so that the right signals must be received the world over that the time of dictatorship and ignoring the will of people is over. And such kind of regimes they have to learn to deal with what Mr. Woodrow Willson Said " Every people has a right to choose the sovereignty under which they shall live, no peace can last, or ought to last, which does not recognize and accept the principle that governments derive all their just powers from the consent of the governed, and that no right anywhere exists to hand peoples about from sovereignty to sovereignty as if they were property."

Thanks
