Révolte des Sahraouis - Revolt of the Saharawis - Revuelta de los Saharauis

PRESS RELEASE

In the continuous process of  the Moroccan state's repression of the defenceless Sahrawi citizens, and after abducting five human rights activists on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 (Mohamed Elmoutaoikil, Noumria Brahim, Elhoucine Lidri,Larbi Massaoud and Gaoudi Fdaili) who were subjected to all sorts of psychological torture for long hours apart from insult, humiliation and threatening of rape because of their opinion concerning the Western Sahara issue.

And after interrogating them by the Wali of security in El Ayun , Brahim Bensami, the Urban Security Group chief-officer, Ichi Abou Hassan, and Abdelhaq Rabii, a security service officer, who savagely tortured both Brahim Noumria and Lhoucine Lidri by burning with fire, hanging for long hours  while handcuffed and eye banded and beating them on all the sensible organs of the body to put all the activists at the end in the Black Jail, El Ayun on July 23, 2005,

The human rights activists, observing with anxiety the Moroccan ill-treatment of the Sahrawi citizens who demonstrated to call for their right to self-determination and for the release of all the Sahrawi human rights activists and political detainees, declare:

1.their strong condemnation to the ferocious campaign against the Sahrawi human rights activists and all the Sahrawi citizens who called for their right to self-determination in civilized ways.

2.their call for the Moroccan state to immediately release all the Sahrawi rights activists and political prisoners without any condition.

3.  their appeal to the international human rights organizations to exert pressure on the Moroccan state to stop its violations of human rights in the Western Sahara.

4.  their call for the coming of an international committee to investigate in the torture of the Sahrawi activists and civilians in the Western Sahara.
