Accusation
A Moroccan association calling itself "The survivors of Polisario jails" has apparently lodged an accusation with European courts against former and present leaders of the Polisario Front, some of them currently occupying high posts in Morocco such as Omar Hadrami, Governor of Sidi Kacem. UN - Referendum
James Baker will meet the representatives of Algeria, Mauritania and Polisario Front between the 27th and the 29th of August at Pinedale in Wyoming [USA], where he is vacationing, in order to expose his project of "framework agreement". The Algerian delegation will be led by the Minister of Justice Ahmed Ouyahya and the delegation of Polisario by Mahfoud Ali Beïba, the name of the Mauritanian is not yet known... Human rights
Mohamed Daddach, the oldest Saharawi political detainee (arrested in 1979), has decided to start a hunger strike of 24 hours each week until 1 October, the length of which will increase from that date until his liberation. The Truth and Justice Forum - Sahara Section has inaugurated two days of action to support Daddach's initiative. The European Bureau for the respect of Human Rights in Western Sahara is about to launch an "International Campaign for the liberation of Mohamed Daddach and 25 other Saharawi political prisoners sentenced in Moroccan courts". SOLIDARITY

Granada, Espana: La Provincia de Granada, hermanada con Wilaya de Auserd, ha acogido este verano 235 niños, y la Diputación recibió en el Palacio de Bibatauín, el 22 de agosto, los niños saharauis y sus familias de acogida para cerebrar la estancia y la despedida. En el transcurso de la celebración, los alcaldes cuyos pueblo hermanado con daira saharaui, recibieron por manos de los niños, las placas cerámicas conmemorativa en las que figuran el escudo del pueblo español y el de la daira. En la tribuna tomaron palabra el Presidente de la Asociación granadina, el subdelegado saharaui de Andalucía y el Presidente de la Diputación, éste dijo que se sentía orgulloso de ser solidario con el pueblo que lucha por la liberación y la independencia. Despues de la recepción oficial la Diputación ofreció a los niños y sus familias una jornada en el parque Aquaola en donde se disfrutaron la comida y el juego acuático.

11.08.01, Algámitas, Sevilla: La Asociación de Mujeres "DULCE NOMBRE" de Algámitas, la cual cuenta con más de 200 socias, ha organizado un taller bajo el título "MUJER SAHARAUI E ISLAM". La coordinación e impartición del taller la ha llevado a cabo Isabel Galeote Marhuenda, miembro de FANDAS-SÁHARA (Federación Andaluza de Asociaciones Solidarias con el Sáhara), y los objetivos marcados en esta actividad, se pueden resumir en dos:

• Conseguir abordar la cuestión de las mujeres en el Islam, centrándonos en la mujer saharaui, sin prejuicios ni etiquetas.
• Sensibilizar a las mujeres de la asociación sobre el papel de la mujer saharaui en la lucha por la independencia de su pueblo.

13, 14 y 15.08.01, Huércal de Almeria: II Jornadas Provinciales de Solidaridad con el Pueblo Saharaui bajo el título "PARA UN DESIERTO LLENO DE FLORES". Se ha editado una pequeña publicación que recoge el programa desarrollado, un artículo de Isabel Galeote Marhuenda y varias fotografías tomadas por la alcaldesa de Huércal en una de sus visitas a los campamentos de refugiados en Tindouf. Esta publicación se ha repartido masivamente en distintos puntos de la provincia.

22.08.01, Le Havre, France: «Un Camion Citerne pour les Sahraouis», a organisé, à l'occasion du séjour des enfants sahraouis au Havre, une conférence débat avec Mme Salouka Amedefal sur la situation du Sahara Occidental. Et, pour saluer le départ des enfants, une fête a eu lieu le vendredi 24 Août.
