A Moroccan conspiracy launched in connivance with the host country during the 34th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the OAU has been foiled.

In fact, following a diplomatic and advertisement campaign pursued over several months, Morocco took advantage of the holding of the Summit of Ouagadougou to attempt to impose its return to the OAU but at the detriment of the Sahrawi Republic membership.

The Head of the State of Burkina Faso, while chairing the conference, started a debate of several hours on an issue not on the agenda with the support of five countries pushing for a forcing in order to make prevail the Moroccan expansionist thesis. This has provoked the vehement reaction of the majority of the African countries who have called this attempt, rightly so, a "trap", an "ambush" and "a coup in the back of the panafrican organization".

In fact, in a strong solidarity drive with the Sahrawi Rebuplic, the overwhelming majority of the Heads of State and Governement, who could take floor, defended the Charter and the principals of the African Unity. The participants have underlined that through this maneuver, which bring only division and discord, Morocco sought to divert the attention of the International community from the obstacles it creates in the way of the implementation of the Houston accords and the UN-OAU Settlement Plan.

In Ouagadougou, Africa has consecrated the Sahrawi State and rejected categorically the Moroccan colonial designs.
